Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud (1906 – 1975) was a prominent figure in Saudi Arabian history and a key member of the Saudi royal family. He served as the King of Saudi Arabia from 1964 until his assassination in 1975.  Faisal was born in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 1906, and he was the third son of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia. Faisal grew up in a time of great change and turbulence in the Arabian Peninsula. His father, King Abdulaziz, successfully united the various tribal regions to form the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
